Mid- Carolina proposes in its application to increase its gross annual local revenues approximately $6.66 million. The proposed changes in rates, charges and regulations would affect virtually all local services provided by the Applicant. A hearing will be held Thursday, April 1st at 2 p.m. in the Polk County Courthouse, Columbus. Fire The Tryon Volunter Fire Department was called out twice over the weekend. On Friday afternoon they were called to the home of Mrs. W. M. Hester where it turned out there was no fire. Sunday about 9:15 p.m. they were called to the mobile home of Mike Conner on Capps Road where there was a chimney fire. There was no damage done. Bacon Mrs. Agnes Doyle Bacon, widow of Francis Pickens Bacon, Melrose Ave., Tryon, died Monday morning in St. Luke’s hospital afer a short illness.
